True Religion

True religion involves facing one block on love and wisdom after another, peeling off one layer of the rotten onion of self-love and the excuses for self-love which commit adultery with it after another. 

True religion faces the evil of self-love and the excuses for it, climbing the ladder of rungs towards milder and milder adulteries of sin and error.

True religion involves passing through the flood of fire and flood of water of sin and its supportive ideation, evil and excuse for evil. 

True religion involves keeping one's vessel and ministering to orphans and widows with good and truth, facilitation of keeping one's vessel in others.

True religion involves pouring the oil of love and the wine of truth into the wounds of one beaten and left for dead by thieves and passed on by priest and Levite.

True religion involves anointing the stones of truth which are our pillow with the oil of love beneath the Ladder of Christ, His will and mind and the rungs of our ascendance degree by degree out of Hell with ourselves to Heaven with Him. 

True religion involves growing in love & the ideation of love, ascending the Ladder of Christ out of the hell of our own self-love & love of the world and adultery of sin with error & evil with excuse day by day, state by state, arrangement of heart and thoughts after arrangement. 

True religion is the worthy eating of the bread & wine of which Paul writes; and the fire and water and bitterness and temptation by which we become thus worthy.

True religion passes through the fire what can bear the fire, and through the water what is for the water, trying the heart and reins (kidneys). 

"Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water" (Numbers 31:23).

For these are the necessary purification of the inside of the platter and the cup of which our Lord spoke.

Does being part of the New Church mean you go to Heaven? No. Does not being part of the New Church mean you go to Hell? No. But in the Church of the God Man which you know as Swedenborgianism, you can know what the Word actually means!

The Word is not an ordinary document but an intricate interface

The sharp, two-edged sword of the Word lays bare what is sinful and excusing of sin, inspires us to shun these, and implants what is good and true in their places. It is not an ordinary document but an intricate interface. Jeremiah 1:10 - King James Version (KJV) <10> See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. Nations pertain to the heart and peoples to the mind. Nations and peoples, nations and kings

 We have briefly touched on the meaning of nations and peoples, a very frequent double expression in the Word, as being either goods and truths or those in them; or contrarily sins and errors and those in them.
