On Spiritual Experiences 4683: What you look like to angels

This is what you look like to angels, who do not see your body and hear your voice. Rather, they see your interiors, the structure of your desires and motivations; and of your ideation and thoughts. They see the structure of your conscience and your understanding, the bread on your plate and the wine in your cup:

" There was a certain one who in the world had had [an understanding of] truth from some good quality, (Lagerberg 1 ). He went forward in a nearly straight line and noted what he saw there. He told me that he saw separate regions where there was a multitude of spirits in a commotion and in various ways in the [different] regions. And he became aware that in the middle there was a vague something, which he was told was the earthly person around whom they are. And subsequently it was reported by the angels, that there are such commotions around every person because a person on earth is the lowest and last plane. They reported also and that at the present day there are such commotions around the people of the Church, to the greatest extent from the hells, for the people were seen in the plane of the sole of the foot, and the hells are below that plane. Spirits do not know that a person is [there], nor does the person know that spirits are around him. He said that there were many hells beneath those in which they are, and that it is those who are above in the world of spirits who are making such a commotion into the aura [around the person]. It appears thus, as an aura, by a spiral winding around to the center where that vague something, rather, that person, is" (Spiritual Experiences 4683).

It says of this Lagerberg that he had some good; and consequently understanding of truth coming from that good foundation. Then it says that he proceeded in a nearly straight line.

As we teach, some parts of the Word are naked like your face and hands typically, meaning the spiritual message is quite blunt and obvious; whereas other parts of the Word are clothed like your legs and torso, in other words more cryptic and difficult to understand as to their message, which might be conveyed in a story or line of enigmatic poetry.

To say someone proceeds in a nearly straight line is clothed, while to say someone had had some good and truth in life is naked. Both express the exact same message.

See here for context: "Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil"  (Proverbs 4:27). 

Your "foot" is your natural life; and to turn to the right or left means to deviate from good or to deviate from truth. Your foot, your natural life, should not deviate from the law of God and the understanding thereof. This is why the Lord said to Peter that one had only to wash the feet, because we must wash the feet of our natural lives with the water of the Word, the water of divine truth about love practiced in our lives.

As to the remainder of this Spiritual Experience, it is amazing. Angels and devils do not see your body or hear your voice as we do down or out here. What they see in the spiritual world is a "something", a structure, a lattice of your desires and thoughts; and the relations of these and whether these are healthy or unhealthy, evolving or devolving.

We read elsewhere of angels and devils seeing parts of that "something", a human being still in a material body, as being darker or lighter; depending on whether the person is healthier or unhealthier in that aspect of their spiritual life of desire and thought. This is what they see when they look at you face to face, interior to interior! 

People in material bodies look at faces and hear voices of others; but angels in spiritual bodies look at consciences and thoughts of others. They see the exact extent to which someone receives the bread of divine love and the wine of divine truth about love; being love of God and the neighbor. 

The quality and extent of your love of God and the neighbor is your beauty or the lack thereof in the eternal life to come. Bread and wine are the coordinates of the eternal neighborhood where you will end up, you personally; in the countless vesicles of that timeless, better place where humans are perfected forever. 

The Lord had many things to tell us once we could bear them (John 16:12-13). We can bear them now! And it is as these many things to tell us that He returned as the Spirit of Truth, as a data dump on an epic scale concerning the particulars of spiritual life and the deeper meanings of the Word.

Appendix on Lagerberg:

It should be noted, with regard to today's teaching concerning straight lines, that this involves the spiritual meaning of straight lines in a positive, heads, upright position as contextualized by the naked statement about Lagerberg's having had some good and truth in life. Someone can also go in a straight line towards evil...

We are shown a fair amount of material about this Lagerberg, not to tell us his final state but to teach us concerning various aspects of spiritual life; so some of the camera angles on him are dreadful, and others not so, according to the message God wants to present  in that passage of the Latin Testament.
