The inner meaning of the Bible is sealed for your protection
Doctrine of the Moment
There is an optimum time in your life to begin to believe. God does not inspire living belief in someone before that optimum time in order to protect them from serious spiritual consequences.
"(1) A man may be admitted into the wisdom of spiritual things, and also into a love for them, and yet not be reformed. (2) If he afterwards recedes from them, and passes over into the opposite, he profanes holy things. (3) There are many kinds of profanation, but this is the worst kind of all. (4) Therefore the Lord admits man interiorly into the truths of wisdom and at the same time into the goods of love only so far as he can be kept in them until the end of his life" (Divine Providence 221).
The key word here is "interiorly". People who grew up in the Church but merely mouthed religious expressions and went through religion motions do not commit the dire sin of profanation if they cease to do these things. Many people go through religious motions as a child and then abandon the charade in adult life -- as I did! years before learning God is real -- but these cannot profane the sacred until they actually believe in truth. This is the reason for these cryptic verses in Isaiah: Isaiah 6:9-10
Isaiah 6:9-10 - King James Version (KJV) <9> And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. <10> Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
We can see the same meaning and warning expressed in Hebrews:
Hebrews 6:4-6 - King James Version (KJV) <4> For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, <5> And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, <6> If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Not only is there a danger of 'knowing too much too soon' for an individual, but this spiritual hazard applies also to entire Churches! It is the real reason why the Jewish Church was not told many things which the Lord first revealed to His disciples; and it is the same reason why the Christian Church was not told many things which the Lord first revealed to us.
As we read in Divine Providence, "The Word's spiritual meaning was not revealed earlier because if it had been, the church would have profaned it, and in so doing would have profaned the very holiness of the Word" (264). The Jewish Church did not want to know the internal meaning of the Bible but cared above all about being prosperous in an Earthly, materialistic, and geopolitical sense; it was therefore for their protection that such carnal-minded people did not receive more information about the inner meaning of the Bible. And the same applies to the Christians, because it did not take long after Paul for the "grievous wolves" -- most of historical 'Christianity' -- to arrive.
Correspondence of the Moment
"cherubim" -- " the providence of the Lord lest man should insanely enter into the mysteries of faith from his Own, and from what is of the senses and of memory-knowledge [sensuali et scientifico], and should thus profane them, and destroy himself" (Secrets of Heaven 308). The context of this cherubim above is the angel with the flaming sword who is said to guard the entrance of Eden: Genesis 3:23-24
Genesis 3:23-24 - King James Version (KJV) <23> Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. <24> So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
"By the cherubim is signified a guard; by the way of the tree of life is signified access to the Lord, which men obtain through the Word; and by the flaming sword turning every way is signified Divine Truth in ultimates which, like the Word in the sense of the Letter, can be so turned" (Sacred Scripture 97).
As everyone knows who has glanced at the chaos of 'Christendom', there are numerous interpretations of the Bible; and that is what is meant by the "sword which turned every way". This is a feature, not a bug, of the Word's outer or literal meaning; this situation is very convenient for God, and as noted much safer for us. For God is then at His leisure to reveal the exact truth to us when it is appropriate. We see this expressed quite clearly in 2 Peter 1:18-20:
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
It's important to note that the reference Peter makes to the "voice which came from heaven" -- which happened during the transfiguration on the mount -- is basically a narrative version of what he outright says in his epistle.
Luke 9:32-34 - King James Version (KJV) <32> But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. [Note: "glory" signifies [Note: "glory" in the Word signifies Divine truth and the inward sense of the Bible, which is thus glorious.] <33> And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. <34> While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
"they that were with him were heavy with sleep" corresponds to "We have also a more sure word of prophecy"; and "when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him" corresponds to "until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts".
They were asleep spiritually, and thus they did not understand the Word, either in person or as scripture. But "when they were awake", they could see -- which of course means to understand -- both the historical and prophetical parts of the Word, being Moses and Elias respectively.
It's worth noting in passing that the "cloud" which overshadowed them and after which Moses and Elias were not there is the same literal meaning of the Word which, like a cherubim, is difficult to understand for our protection; definitely not just to confuse us. And to finish up, we see this same "cloud" of the literal meaning in Revelation:
Revelation 10:1-2 - King James Version (KJV) <1> And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: <2> And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
Here, the rainbow around the angel's head is the inner meaning of the Bible; it is much the same as passing the angel with the flaming sword and effectively entering Eden. This event in your life is what Paul was praying for in Ephesians 3:16-19:
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
And this is also what is meant by Jesus coming in the clouds with great power and glory; this is not something that happens on TV, it is something that happens to the "inner man"; and precisely the experience Peter spoke of when he contrasted the state when a person cannot understand the Word but reads it anyhow and the following state when God personally imparts an inner key that thenceforth guides the reader in their Bible study.
They can no longer regard things like power and glory as a mere miracle in the literal sky; neither can they see the Word's references to length, breadth, and height as architectural measurements in some literal temple. For God has personally opened the book sealed with 7 seals for them. May He even do this for more people, because the world is undergoing a painful transition; and because the world desperately needs spiritual renewal and a new foundation for societal morality and order which can only come from God.
As an aside, when one is allowed to share things like this with you, then one feels noticeably more innocent than usual; and it saddens me to admit this, but it is true. Be so very grateful when God lets you experience innocence. And by increments, He will help you to realise that innocence more and more in everyday life.
"Because by "cherubim" is signified the Divine truth in ultimate as a guard, therefore it is said in David, "Oh Shepherd of Israel, that sitteth upon the cherubim, shine forth" (Ps. 80:1)" (Apocalypse Revealed 239).
