"See that ye be not troubled": Jesus' humane approach to scary-sounding prophecies
How common it is for specifically materialistic Christians to believe concurrently in things like global dictatorship, bar codes on foreheads, imminent Nephilim invasions, flat earth, sky domes, and similar fantasies. All of these are materialistic! And so the pattern that the New Church claims fits the data. Once you know that pattern then you have at your fingertips a sort of medical dye to see it going through the body, where before you could kind of see it but it wasn't crystallising. Take, for instance, the way that Jesus refers to the scribes and Pharisees as being ground into powder in
Matthew 21:42-45 - New King James Version (NKJV)<42> Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'The stone which the builders rejectedHas become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes'? <43> "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. <44> And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder."<45> Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that He was speaking of them.
Where have we seen this grinding into powder before? Why, it is in the book of Daniel, in that famous statue which represents the four stages of every Church!
Daniel 2:34-35 - New King James Version (NKJV)<34> You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. <35> Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
It is specifically the scribes and Pharisees of the Old Church in each iteration of the Church life cycle that are ground into power, not -- please, note -- some global military anti-Christ-dictator Nephilim-super-soldier-Christian-hunting Dawn of the Dead kind of nightmare! What are they not doing while they fill people's heads with that kind of religious science-fiction horror narrative? While they are spouting so, they are not preaching the Gospel. They are bankrupt! Note that one is specifically referring to people more lacking in charity, and people whose emphasis distracts from charity, these being various in their types and seriousness. Here is what the worst ones look like to God:
Jeremiah 2:13 - New King James Version (NKJV)<13> "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
See how this fits what has just been related? For it is precisely preaching utter nonsense to people, often distinctively materialistic and nightmarish in import, which coincides with not preaching more wholesome material. Now does it make sense why God says
Matthew 24:6 - New King James Version (NKJV)<6> And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
"See that you are not troubled"? Why would we not be troubled by a global anti-Christ dictator Christian-hunting frenzy? Because, neighbour , none of that is ultimately real. True, persecution of Christians is real enough, but that is no excuse for exaggerating things to the point of scaring people without helping them. What is real is that the Old Church has lost its umph, being its charity and its understanding, and it no longer knows how to communicate prophecy to you in a manner that does not cause you post-traumatic stress disorder, which is a serious problem.
Meanwhile, in the New Church, "See that ye be not troubled" is not some curious footnote but the main event. When we tell you that the anti-Christ is the separation of faith and works, we are not filling your minds with terrifying distractions. The world has plenty of creepy things in it, including, sadly, scary dictatorships. But God did not talk about people being ground into powder to terrify them, but to frame their liberation from the power of darkness. It is precisely from trouble that the Lord would liberate us all. Without that key to the house of prophecy, you will turn the front doorknob in vain.
